Elias is a researcher in the Migration and Sustainable Development (MIG) research group of IIASA's Population and Just Societies (POPJUS) programme. He holds a master's degree in economics from the Paris School of Economics and a bachelor's degree in political science and economics from the University of Vienna. Prior to joining IIASA, Elias worked at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Austrian Central Bank (OeNB).
