About

Orlando Olaya Bucaro joined the Migration and Sustainable Development Research Group of the IIASA Population and Just Societies (POPJUS) Program as a research assistant in January 2021. He holds an MSc in Demography from Stockholm University, Sweden. He previously worked on the Future Migration Scenarios for Europe (FUME) project that aims to understand patterns of migration at multiple levels, from the international to local. For FUME he further developed the IIASA–WIC population projection model to include the additional dimension of country of birth. Currently, he is working on population projections within the Research Council of Norway funded BALANCE project in collaboration with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), with the objective to facilitate the Norwegian transition to a circular bioeconomy.
